Sea Ice as Earth

Look at me. I have flown right through this glass unscathed.
– Christine Fellows, Bird As Prophet

don’t lean on me

I am not
permanent
an alibi
for land

I crack
split
slip
beneath
the next
jagged shard
of my
lacerated
self

another face
of the same
crystalline
mystery

I heal of course
weather permitting
resurface(d)
like water

I am
not water

don’t walk on me
